The News Shopper was launched in Orpington in 1965. It is the oldest free newspaper in London. Before being bought by Newsquest, it was owned by News International, Berrows Newspapers, the Murray family (owners of the Surrey Advertiser) and Reed International. In 1988 it expanded into Lewisham, Greenwich, Woolwich and Dartford and in 1997 into Gravesend. It covers 6 boroughs and is published in 8 editions |
