First to cede to the Guardian was Walthamstow's first newspaper, The Walthamstow Chronicle and Leyton Intelligence, produced in 1870 by local printer, Joseph Shillinglaw. Just seven months after its first issue in January 1887 The Guardian took over The Chronicle. |
