| History |
The Guardian came into existence in May 1876 to serve the districts of Walthamstow and Leyton. It was the brainchild of three businessmen: accountant Walter Booth, Robert Willis, A printer in London and Samuel Herbert who assumed the role of editor and later in 1890 became the newspaper's chairman and managing director. The first issue of the Guardian comprised of four small pages and was priced at 1/2 d. |
